We're back with an update and it's a big one

First of all, sorry about this lack of explicit updates over the last while. Things conspired against us and made putting out "proper" updates difficult. We were continuously updating the game, though, and all these changes are mentioned in this news item.

The much-anticipated game guide

Clicking Help will now bring you to our much-promised game guide. At this stage it's fairly complete and describes most game features we could think of. Please tell us if you find errors, or think something is missing.

We'll be adding screenshots and videos to the guide shortly to make it even more clear.

Finance reports

Check out the Finance reports linked from your Company page. There you can get pretty aggregated statistics on how your company is doing.

Reports are fully functional for Premium users, and everyone else get reports for the last 4 days only.

Company account transaction filtering

On the Recent transactions page of your company there is now a Filter option. You can filter transactions shown to you by date, heading, and people and companies involved.

Kicking inactive company partners

You can now unilateraly kick out inactive (no activity within the last 14 days) partners from your companies. Simply proceed to the Partner management page, and do it from there.

When someone is kicked out this way, they are sent a message informing them of the kick. There is a 4 day grace period during which they can rejoin the company without needing consent from other partners.

Even more BureauPoints

On suggestion from the Forums, you will now earn an extra 2 BPs every day that you complete 30 customer dispatches. This is in addition to the two points we had issued before.

Increase in driver navigation distance

We have changed treatment of driver navigation skill to increase resulting navigation distance.

Formerly navigation distance used to be increased by 0.12 miles per navigation skill point, now it is done on a sliding scale, with more points resulting in higher increases:

Points in each band act on their own: a driver with 60 points will get its radius increased by 0.12*50 + 0.19*10 (0.12 for each point up to 50, and then 0.19 per each point up to 60, in this case).

And the rest...

These are important other changes applied since the last official update:

Driver energy model updated and other changes

Driver energy model

We have found a few bugs in the way driver tiredness is handled. Those were causing occasional strange behaviour, and wasn't making drivers tired correctly. We have fixed those.

How does driver tiredness work?

Each driver has an Energy skill. This defines how long a driver can drive before getting tired. Each point of this skill increases driving time by 24 minutes. It starts off with 10, giving 4 hours driving energy.

As the driver drives a car, her energy decreases in real time. A fully rested driver with the initial energy skill (4 hours) will have 2 hours of energy after driving a route that takes 2 hours. If she then drives another route that takes half an hour, her energy will become 1.5 hours. Energy level doesn't really change when a driver is sitting idle in a car (ie, not driving).

If a driver's energy reaches zero, she becomes exhausted and leaves the car. There is presently no penalty for this, though your car may end up far away from other drivers, increasing the time it will take them to get to it. Note, energy can become negative in this case, and the recovery time will be correspondingly longer.

To replenish driver's energy, you need to free her from the car. Once out of a car, driver's energy replenishes automatically at a rate of 20 minutes for every hour. That is, a driver with 1 hour of energy will have 2 hours after spending 3 real-world hours outside a car.

You can speed up rate of recovery by putting drivers in a rest stop. A driver in a rest stop should see her energy recovering in real time (one hour of energy for every real-world hour). Getting to the rest stop also consumes driver's energy, but you are not charged for that presently.

Finally, a driver with less than half an hour of energy cannot be assigned to cars.

Renaming facilities

We have added a Change facility name item. You can use it to rename your facilities, surprisingly enough. This item can be purchased in the inventory, or on the marketplace.

Game Guide coming soon

We're finishing up a Game Guide explaining all the aspects of how the game works, and hope to put it in the help section in a few days time. Watch this space...

Items fraud resolved

Make sure to read this update

As you recall, we have added special company items at the start of this week. Items can be aquired in two ways: purchased on the Marketplace, or purchased directly with BureauPoints.

Unfortunately, we've made a blooper in the code, which resulted in purchases never charging BureauPoints.

As a result, quite a few companies bought items that they never paid for. This wouldn't have been a big deal, except that some of you exploited this bug to buy lots and lots of items and get a very unfair advantage. A few companies bought over 300 items each!

What we did

To prevent in-game economy from exploding, we had to undo all these purchases:

How does it affect you

First of all, you will see stats on some of your drivers and facilities rolled back. We tried to keep it fair by only rolling back guilty parties, but if you belive you were hard done by, please tell us and we'll sort it out.

Secondly, it is possible that some of your cars ended up stuck somewhere far away from your base of operations, and due to diminished skills of your drivers they cannot be driven.

We have added a Relocate button to car pages, with which you can move them (for free) back to your base. This is a temporary feature, and we will turn it off eventually.

Thirdly, we might levy fines against the top 20 or so offenders, but this is still under debate.

Annoyed?

If you are unhappy about any of this, send a message to The Vlad (or use the orange feedback button) with an explanation of what is bugging you, and we will try and fix it.

This is a really unfortunate mess, but we are trying to sort it out as best as we could.

You may discuss this or ask questions in the forum thread.

Stuff! Get your stuff here!

Company inventory and special items

We've just added the last piece of the puzzle: company items. Clicking on the handy Inventory button on your company page will now show you various game items your company has.

We have added a whole range of items, providing various enhancements for your company. Full description of all items is available on the Buy page in the inventory. You can train your drivers, improve your facilities, grow your company over prescribed limits, and more.

Items can be bought for BureauPoints on the aforementioned Buy menu, or you can buy them on the marketplace with in-game cash. Prices are set by auction, which should make them fair.

Of course, you can also sell your items on the marketplace.

Extra stuff on the Marketplace

From now on, there are some expensive things being sold on the marketplace by the game with no reserve. A few of the expensive cars, some well-trained drivers, and a bunch of items. This may be a great opportunity to pick things up at a great discount!

Free BureauPoints

You should start getting free BureauPoints when playing the game now. The rules are very simple: you get a point every day that you complete at least one journey. If you complete more than 4, you get two points.

These points are fully functional, and you're free to use them in any way you like!

Friend invites

We have tweaked rules on friend invites. Now you get a much bigger payout for inviting friends, and it should happen sooner.

The old rule still applies however: you only get money for inviting friends who proceed to play the game. Spamming won't get you anything.

Trade your stuff on the Marketplace

We've a new exciting addition to the game: Marketplace. This is an auction system for trading your vehicles/drivers/facilities with other players.

We will add detailed documentation on this shortly, but for now here's what you need to know:

Buyers
Sellers

Training drivers

You may now train drivers at any time. The requirement that they need to be idle no longer applies.
