Everything about vehicles

Your company needs vehicles to drive customers and earn money. There are three ways to acquire cars:

  1. Buy them with in-game currency in the Purchase vehicles section
  2. Buy them with BureauPoints
  3. Purchase them on the marketplace

Which way you chose is up to you. Buying with in-game currency requires quite a lot of it. Marketplace is an auction system, so you do need to fight to get vehicles there. Many of the vehicles on the marketplace are used, and that is something to keep in mind.

BureauPoints is the easiest way to get the best cars. Remember that a good car is a long-term investment and will serve you quite a long time.

Looking after your vehicles

If you look at the management page for a vehicle, two attributes are of particular importance: current condition and fuel available.

As your vehicle drives around, it burns gas. You need to refuel the vehicle once in awhile. If a vehicle runs out of gas while driving a customer, it will break down and its condition will drop to zero.

In addition, all vehicles require regular maintenance.  As a car drives, its condition reduces. If a car’s condition reaches zero, it breaks down and needs to be towed for repairs at a considerable cost. To avoid that, you should service your vehicles when their condition drops below one.

Vehicle management page can be accessed by clicking the vehicle name. State of your vehicle is shown on the vehicle page.

My vehicle is broken!

If you fail to service your vehicles in a timely manner, their condition can reach zero, at which time they break down. At that stage you can either scrap the vehicle (if it is too near the end of its life, for example), or tow it to repairs.

Simply navigate to the vehicle’s page, and click the Tow to repairs button. You will be able to select one of the repair shops available to you, and arrange repairs.

Towing is quite expensive: you get charged $32 for each mile that the vehicle needs to be towed. This is straight line distance from the vehicle’s location to the repair shop. You are also charged normal repair fees.

In addition, towing takes time: 53 minutes plus towing time at 10 miles per hour. Towing for less than 1.2 miles takes no time.

Broken vehicles are shown with a service symbol on the map. A <i>Tow to a mechanic</i> option becomes available on broken vehicle's page.

Refueling and servicing vehicles

Make sure the vehicle has a driver in it, and then click Drive. In the vehicle bubble on the map, select Refuel/Repair option and pick a gas station or a service shop. You will be asked how many gallons of gas to purchase (or how many condition points to repair), and then you will need to navigate the vehicle to the station as normal.

Your vehicle must be ready in order to refuel or service it. Select <i>Refuel/repair</i> option in the vehicle bubble to start. To refuel, select the appropriate gas station. To service, select one of the mechanics available to you. Enter the number of repair points you need (default is maximum allowed), and click <i>Repair</i>. Enter the amount of gas you want to purchase (in gallons) and click <i>Purchase gas</i>. You will need to perform navigation to the station as usual. Finally, click on <i>Start driving</i> to get your vehicle on the way to the station. It'll refuel/repair automatically once it reaches the destination.

Choosing the right vehicle

When purchasing vehicles, you are shown all the attributes associated with each one. Generally, more expensive cars are a better investment, but there are tradeoffs:

  • Seats: cars with more seats attract more tips from customers (12% extra per seat)
  • Fuel economy: this one should be obvious.
  • Tank capacity: how much gas does a vehicle hold. Small tanks require frequent trips to gas stations, wasting your time and drivers’ energy.
  • Salon quality: increases tips (15% per point)
  • Speed: expressed as a percentage of optimal speed. A car with 50% speed will only drive half as fast as possible, while a car with 200% speed will zip along at twice the optimal speed. Optimal speed is also affected by driver’s driving skill.
  • Handling: has no effect at present.
  • Repair cost: cost to repair one point of condition.
  • Service life: what mileage the vehicle is designed for. Once a car gets more than this on the clock, its condition will start dropping at a high rate. We recommend scraping cars once they are past their service life.
  • Quality: this affects how quickly the vehicle’s condition drops. Car’s condition drops at a rate of 1 condition point for each (13miles + quality*9.3miles) miles driven. A car with quality of 8 will lose one condition point every  87 miles driven. Cars that are past their service life will always lose 1 point every 9 miles.

Getting vehicles

To buy new vehicles, click the Purchase more vehicles button under Vehicles tab on your company page. You will be able to select the type of vehicle you want.

You can pay for vehicles with your company’s money (by clicking Purchase). Alternatively, you can purchase vehicles with BureauPoints (by clicking Get for BPs).

It will take a few hours for your newly purchased vehicle to get delivered. This delay is waived for Premium users.

When purchasing vehicles you are also given an option to hire a driver. This driver will be automatically assigned to the newly purchased vehicle.

You can also buy vehicles on the Marketplace.

<i>Purchase more vehicles</i> button is available on your company's page <i>Vehicles</i> tab. You can purchase vehicles on the <i>Marketplace</i> as well.

Scraping vehicles

You may scrape vehicles when they no longer satisfy your requirements. To do this, make sure there is no driver in it, and then click the Scrape button on the vehicle page.

When scraping, you are given a percentage of the vehicle’s value back. Precise amount depends on the vehicle mileage as a proportion to its service life.

You may scrap vehicles that don't have a driver in them by clicking the <i>Scrap</i> button.

Limits on fleet size

A company is only allowed a limited number of vehicles. Any company is allowed 3 vehicles, plus 2 per partner. A company with 3 partners in it is allowed a maximum of 9 vehicles.

To go beyond this you can:

  • Pay 3 BureauPoints when purchasing an extra car.
  • Purchase a car with BureauPoints.
  • Get your friends to join your company as partners.
  • Purchase a car on the marketplace, or
  • Get an Extra Car License (allows 4 extra cars for each license).
